Housed and operated at Wendell Foster's Campus, the Western Kentucky Assistive Technology Center (WKATC) was established in March of 1994 to support and enhance the development of an assistive technology service delivery system in Western Kentucky.

WKATC is:

• A participating member of the KATS Network
• An Alliance for Technology Access Member Center
• A project of the Council on Mental Retardation

Services provided by WKATC:

• Assistive technology assessments
• Augmentative communication assessments
• Speech therapy
• Training to consumers, family members, teachers, and therapists
• Material development for AT and AAC devices
• Design and production of communication boards
• Family resource days
• Software previews
• Information and referral
• Loan of assistive technology and augmentative communication devices
